About the event

Looking for something fun and educational to do this summer? Join the Great Lakes Plastic Cleanup (GLPC), an initiative of Pollution Probe and the Council of the Great Lakes Region, and a small team of volunteers to assist in the waste characterization and data collection process of debris captured by Seabins at Trent Port Marina!

A Seabin acts as a floating garbage bin in the calm waters of marinas and ports. When installed, it pumps water through the device, intercepting floating debris, macro- and microplastics. We gather this debris to collect and sort the waste. It is important to determine the types of items that frequently enter the Great Lakes and negatively affect our waterways.

All required equipment will be provided by GLPC; we only ask that you dress appropriately for the weather, wear sunscreen, and bring a reusable water bottle!

*Event end time may vary depending on how much waste…
