About the event

Looking for something fun and educational to do this summer? Join the Great Lakes Plastic Cleanup (GLPC), an initiative of Pollution Probe and the Council of the Great Lakes Region, and a small team of volunteers to assist in the waste characterization and data collection process of debris captured by BeBot at Sibbald Point Provincial Park!


BeBot is a beach-cleaning robot that captures plastic debris and other litter through sand-sifting technology. From smaller items such as plastic fragments and cigarette butts, to larger take-out food and beverage containers, the very first BeBot in Canada is able to collect a variety of items. It is important to collect and sort the waste to determine the types of items that are frequently making their way into the Great Lakes and negatively affecting our waterways.
