Michigan Sea Grant

Michigan Sea Grant helps to foster economic growth and protect Michigan’s coastal, Great Lakes resources through education, research, and outreach. A collaborative effort of the University of Michigan and Michigan State University and its MSU Extension, Michigan Sea Grant is part of the NOAA-National Sea Grant network of 34 university-based programs.  Michigan Sea Grant is also a partner organization for the Michigan Clean Marina Program.

The Watershed Center Grand Traverse Bay

The Watershed Center advocates for clean water in Grand Traverse Bay and acts to protect and preserve its watershed.

Northwestern Michigan College’s Great Lakes Campus Harbor – this harbor houses the 224-foot training ship T/S State of Michigan and several other smaller boats used by the college.  The harbor is very close to downtown Traverse City on West Grand Traverse Bay, just east of the mouth of the Bay’s largest tributary, the Boardman River.  The mailing address is 715 E Front Street, Traverse City MI 49686 and the lat/long is:  44.76625, -85.60659.

Keith J. Charters Traverse City State Park Beach

A 47-acre state park located on the east arm of the Grand Traverse Bay, just 2 miles from downtown Traverse City. The park is home to a modern campground, a fully equipped lodge, mini cabins and a day-use area. The day-use area is located directly across U.S. 31 and features a quarter-mile of sandy beach, a small beach house and a picnic area.
